Press Releases

The Board of Directors of Alpian announces today that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Schuyler Weiss, has resigned in order to embark on a new journey in public service in the United States. Since the initiation of Alpian over 5 years ago, Schuyler has led the company to remarkable milestones, including the launch of Switzerland’s first digital private bank licensed by FINMA, the expansion of the team to over 100 employees across offices in Switzerland and abroad, the strong growth of the client and asset base since the commencement of activities, and the signing of a strategic collaboration with Fideuram – Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking to accelerate the evolution of its digital wealth management offering. In line with the Board’s established succession planning process, Gianmarco Bonaita, previously the Deputy CEO, will step into the role on an ad interim basis, subject to FINMA’s approval.

Geneva, 5th September 2023 – “After 5 years of building and growing Alpian, now represents the optimal time for me to hand over the management of the bank,” said Schuyler Weiss. “As difficult a decision as it has been to depart, I will leave knowing that everything is in place for Alpian to continue on its marked trajectory. It has been an honor to work alongside the world-class team at Alpian, and I look forward to watching them from afar as they continue to define the next generation of Private Banking. Over the next months, I will work with the Chairman Pasha Bakhtiar and Gianmarco Bonaita to ensure a smooth transition and the continuity of our world-class digital private banking service. I would like to thank my colleagues, the Board of Directors, our shareholders, and, most importantly, our clients for their unwavering trust and support during my tenure.”

“I have worked alongside Schuyler since Alpian was nothing more than an idea, and I would like to thank him for his dedication and leadership in bringing it to this point. During his tenure as the CEO, Schuyler has overseen a period of innovation and growth within the company, and we are in a strong position to build on this solid foundation and take the company forward,” said Pasha Bakhtiar, Chairman of Alpian. “Alpian is at an exciting point within its journey, and I look forward to working with the Alpian team as it continues to execute the company’s strategy.”

“Having had the opportunity to manage the company alongside Schuyler since the very beginning, I am honored to assume, with prior FINMA’s approval, the role and responsibilities of ad-interim Chief Executive Officer and build on what we started many years ago. Every day we see greater trust and engagement with the affluent and high net worth of Switzerland, and I am excited to continue and expand our partnership with them as we drive this next phase of growth. We are on the precipice of numerous significant and exciting developments, and I will be pleased to share them with you in the months to come,” added Gianmarco Bonaita. “I would like to express my gratitude to Pasha and the whole Board of Directors of Alpian for this opportunity to take Alpian forward.”
